Is it possible for two kids from a small town who met in 3rd grade and re-connected at age 18 to fall in love and reach the world while never moving away?
You bet it is!
Meet Jeremiah and Courtenay Bowser.
Jeremy and Courtenay met in 3rd grade. Courtenay loved to dance. Jeremy loved to play guitar and sing.
But their dreams went far beyond the relatively obscure town of Jacksonville, Florida. They both wanted to be out in the world, touching people with the arts. They wanted to help people discover their place where their passion meets their purpose…their ignition point.
Today, Jeremy and Courtenay live in Jacksonville. They have two sons, Jedidiah and Elijah. The four of them spend a great deal of time on airplanes separately and as a family, while juggling school, extended family, friends in all different time zones and keeping their own cups full spiritually.
- Jeremiah is a songwriter and international worship leader. He is sort of a big deal in Brazil…actually, he has rockstar status…though he’d never admit to it. There’s something in his voice…it’s truly anointed. I can pick out his voice among hundreds of other singers.
- Courtenay directs The Love Project, using arts like dancing and crayons to take the message of God’s love to remote places it might not otherwise reach. She has co-hosted three TV shows: Ultimate Choice (five seasons), Real Girls, Real Life and Dream Quest. She’s the author of BEAUTIFUL, a book, DVD series and study guide. She’s in demand as a speaker to churches, women’s and youth groups.
Together, they co-host a really heartfelt, but witty iTunes podcast called The Ignition Point <http://www.theignitionpoint.org/podcasts/>. They combine their talents from reaching women in Brazil searching for new lives to children and adults in the farthest villages in Uganda, Zambia and beyond.
What I love about these two is they are so real. They laugh a lot, smile big, give generously, are extremely humble. Though they take the work they’ve been given to do very seriously, they don’t seem to take themselves seriously at all. It’s as if perpetual peace gently mists out them and onto everyone around them. They’re the type of people you can’t walk away from without feeling good.
Can you touch the world from right where you are? Yes. Can you share your gifts and talents, even if it doesn’t seem like much, with the world? Yes.
